Saved the best for last - literally. Really glad I got these two done in time to see them at NYCC - wouldn’t be the same without this pair!
My buddy also made some portraits for Guardians of the Galaxy! Ch-ch-ch-check em out.

Hey, apologies for the lack of activity. Here’s a small work in progress before I retreat back into the wilderness.

I’ve been working on this on and off for a while, but I finally got to finish it today.
Last print I’m taking to Fan Expo next weekend, I’m glad I got it done on time. Find it at table A240!
I hope this guy “smashes” last years record - record holder was Cap - so it’s gonna be a serious throw down! And we have it in his & hers - check artist Audrey’s She Hulk! Both out in Toronto at this year’s Fan Expo.

Don’t forget to go check out the art blog my teammates and I made recently! (There will be lot more artwork eventually.)

Here’s Captain Marvel, last one in the series before Fan Expo!
Other Avenger ladies:
All five will be available as prints at Fan Expo next weekend, table A240. If you’re in the Toronto area, come and chat with us! :D
Anonymous said: I love your super heroine paintings!! I couldn't help but notice how consistent skin tone and the transitions are in them. Do you have any tips on painting skin? Any guides or links online that you've found helpful in learning this skin tone business?
Hi Anon, thank you for the nice message!
Do I have any tips on painting skin, hmm… Well, If we’re just talking photoshop tools then I use a smooth brush (or a smaller smooth brush for harder edges) and various other brushes if I want to go back in and add some texture.
If we’re talking painting in general, in the case of the Marvel Girls, I always try to find good reference of what type of lighting and material I’m trying to achieve, whether it’s a photo or someone else’s art. (Note: It’s important to try and understand what you’re looking at: study your reference, don’t just reproduce it.)
I think painting skin well is the same as painting anything well. You have to understand the shape you’re trying to depict and it’s material, how the light hits the object as a whole, how the environment affects the object, how reflective the object is, suff like that. This tutorial very long but really goes in depth with what I just brushed over. When I first read it years ago it really changed the way I looked at things while painting: http://androidarts.com/art_tut.htm
Hope that helps!
Edit: Clearly that didn’t cover skintone itself at all, but down the line skin is a material and skintone is just a color. A color that varies through the face and body for sure, but that’s part of the fun of studying your examples!

Hey guys! Here’s a piece done by one of the guys I work with, posted on our brand new art blog of prints and illustration work. Go check it out! :D
Some news: I’m now part of a small group of artists who very recently got a tumblr. We’re going to be posting artwork there so go check it out! Give it a +Follow or a Like or a pat on the back! (Or a smack on the butt, if you’re like that.)
We’re also going to be at Fan Expo on August 28-31 at the Metro Toronto convention centre, so come and see us at table A240!
I’ll be bringing my Marvel girls and what’s left of the Game of Thrones portraits, among a few other things. We’re also bringing bookmarks of characters we’ve done for Pathfinder. And that’s not counting all the prints the other guys will have.
So yeah, if you’re in Toronto that weekend you should totally come and chat with us. C:
While technically not an Avenger, I really wanted to do Storm. (But I hear she was on the team for a while in a series I haven’t read, so yeah?)
All four will be available as prints at FanExpo in Toronto next weekend, table A240.
